Who we are

G-Net (the Global Network of Association Management) came about as a direct result of a discussion between former association CEO and publisher, Robert Kemp, and associate David Gasson, Secretary General of the International Union of Aerospace Insurers, during the latter part of 2006 when David expressed his desire to contact and confer with other association executives throughout the world similarly concerned with matters of an international nature.

Starting with the national societies of association executives, Robert Kemp invited representatives to attend the inaugural meeting of G-Net – the Global Network of Association Management - during the 2007 IMEX exhibition in April 2007 where it was agreed that a free and informal network for the profession would be established to provide association managers and executives with a portal to their peers in other countries.   Further meetings have since taken place in Barcelona and Frankfurt at which is was agreed to invite individual association managers to become involved with  proposed programmes of contact, comparisons, best practice, professional qualifications, job opportunities, meetings, conferences and general promotion of the association management profession.

Invitations to members of the association management profession to register free of charge to obtain access to a range of free support services were issued during the autumn of 2008 when the G-Net website was formally launched.

"G-Net is established as a free and informal international network of association executives and managers to encourage global contact and to advance the profession of association management by helping to create a favourable operating environment, by providing a forum for discussion on non-competitive issues, and by providing information to assist them in their administration and function.”
